Are you a fiduciary? Yes! A fiduciary manages money or property for someone else. Working with a fiduciary means that they must put the client's interests ahead of their own. It is imperative to work with a fiduciary so that you know you are getting unbiased financial advice.

Please be advised that for non-registered accounts, you may be able to write some or all of this cost off on your taxes.

What are my all-in costs? Your total costs will be the applicable percentage from the grid above, along with the cost of any investments you hold. For example, if you purchase an ETF with a fee of 0.15%, that would be added to the percentage as determined above. There is also a $200 annual fee charged by Aligned Capital Partners Inc.

What are your qualifications?

Meagan Balaneski holds the CFP (Certified Financial Planner), RFP (Registered Financial Planner), CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter), CIM (Chartered Investment Manager), and TEP (Tax and Estate Planner) designations.

Victor Lough holds the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), CAIA (Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst), and CFP (Certified Financial Planner) designations.

What's your investment philosophy? We are active investment managers with a value tilt. This means we aim to invest in companies valued at more than they currently trade for. We buy undervalued businesses and seek growth, as they are appreciated as good investments in the broader marketplace. This can lead to contrarian holdings, as we will invest in out-of-favor sectors. Our main holding is a fund we manage called The Orion Fund, a medium-risk mandate managed following this philosophy.

How do you communicate with clients? We send a monthly newsletter to keep clients up to date on current thoughts regarding the overall markets and changes made in the Orion fund. We generally want to meet with clients annually and are open to other meetings or conversations virtually or over the phone.

How do you measure and report investment performance? Clients are advised of returns in the newsletter and have online access to view return data and holdings as they see fit.
